Independent marine surveyor matching
Marine surveys along the Croatian Adriatic

Find the right marine surveyor for your boat in Croatia

Arrange an independent yacht or boat survey in Istria, Kvarner or Dalmatia. Croatia’s long coast, island marinas and seasonal charter fleet make the exact base, haul-out plan and vessel handover date central to the assignment.

Survey types

One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

Independent condition inspection before you commit, with defects, priorities and practical next steps.

02

Insurance & valuation

Condition and market-value reporting shaped around the information your insurer or lender requests.

03

Damage & claims

Evidence-led inspection following grounding, collision, water ingress, machinery failure or storm damage.

04

Tonnage & registration

Routing to a surveyor with the right appointment when a flag, registry or recognised organisation requires it.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Check my survey requirement

Credential — membership, qualification or professional designation

Capability — the right vessel, material, size and survey experience

Appointment — authority from the relevant flag or organisation

Acceptance — confirmation that the resulting report or certificate will be accepted

Croatian survey locations

Plan the inspection around Croatia’s Adriatic corridors

Croatia has many marinas but they do not offer identical lift, wash, repair or access facilities. Confirm the operating company, berth or yard, vessel status and permission for contractors before fixing attendance.

Istria

Umag · Novigrad · Poreč · Rovinj · Pula

A compact northern corridor with established marinas and yards. Confirm whether the vessel is in a marina berth, charter base or repair facility and which contractor rules apply.

Kvarner

Opatija · Rijeka · Punat · Cres · Mali Lošinj

Mainland and island locations require different road or ferry planning. Punat and larger yards can support haul-out, subject to vessel dimensions and booking.

North Dalmatia

Zadar · Sukošan · Biograd · Murter

A major charter and private-yacht corridor. Handover days can be busy, so broker access, lift time and sea-trial arrangements should be secured in advance.

Find a surveyor in this region →

Central Dalmatia

Šibenik · Rogoznica · Trogir · Split · Kaštela

Strong marina, charter and repair infrastructure, but travel through the corridor can be material. Confirm yard entry and whether specialist contractors are permitted.

South Dalmatia

Dubrovnik · Slano · Korčula

Fewer alternative yards and longer travel distances make early planning important. Island assignments may add ferry timing and accommodation.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What should I provide for a yacht survey quote in Croatia?

Provide the exact marina, charter base or yard, vessel details, survey purpose, preferred date and handover timetable. State whether the boat is afloat or ashore and whether lift, wash and sea trial can be arranged.

Can a survey be completed during a charter handover?

It may be possible, but handover periods are busy and access can be limited. Agree keys, documents, shore power, machinery access, lift time and sea-trial authority with the owner, broker or charter operator.

Does Croatia have haul-out facilities along the whole coast?

There are many marinas and yards, but lift capacity, booking windows and contractor access differ. Suitability must be confirmed for the vessel’s beam, displacement and location.

Can the report be prepared in English?

English is commonly requested for international purchases. Confirm the final report language, intended recipient, delivery date and whether any translation is required before appointment.

Is Croatian Register of Shipping the same as an independent pre-purchase surveyor?

No. Classification and statutory survey work is different from an independent condition survey for a buyer. The correct professional depends on the vessel, purpose and accepting authority.

Who contracts with the surveyor?

The client appoints the selected independent surveyor and agrees the professional terms directly. Croatia Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include charter handover surveys, refit & repair supervision, sea trials & delivery acceptance, rig & mast inspections, engine diagnostics, moisture, osmosis & corrosion, accident investigation, commercial on-hire & off-hire. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
